Owned by Metrolinx and operated by the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC), The Eglinton Crosstown LRT is a part of a regional transportation plan for the Greater Toronto Metropolitan Area.
The intent is to provide fast, reliable transit along Eglinton Avenue, help reduce congestion and integrate with the existing TTC public transit services. The initial phase will have 25 stations linking to bus routes, three subway stations and various GO Train lines.
Crosslinx Transit Solutions (CTS), a consortium of more than twenty companies, was awarded the contract to design, build, finance and maintain the Line for 30 years.
Ten Plus was invited by Crosslinx to submit proposals to provide Architectural Louvres to 11 stations along the line. Although the scope of work on the individual stations wasn’t vast, the complexity and details were extraordinary and required a lot of customization. This was due to the various substrates, depth restrictions, accessibility constraints, different louvre functions and the fact that some of the louvres were exposed to view from both sides. For this, we ended up providing seven different louvres models from drainable to storm-resistant to vision screen models.
